Music: The Art of Social Connection
I firmly believe in the profound value of music as an art form and its significant impact on society. From educating young people and nurturing their development, to promoting essential values such as solidarity, effort, creativity, integrity, well-being, and critical thinking, music plays a crucial role. The powerful connection forged between the art itself, the musicians, and the audience during concerts is truly remarkable.
I am dedicated to exploring this journey with authenticity and sincerity, learning at every stage. My approach to leadership is rooted in respect, closeness, and trust, using the orchestra and music as both a tool and a passion.
About
Irune Martínez de Santos was born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Country, Spain. She developed her classical music background in her home country, earning a Bachelor's degree in Piano and Orchestral Conducting. Her passion for film music and American culture then led her to Los Angeles, California, where she studied the Film Scoring Program and had the opportunity to record and conduct her own compositions with some of Hollywood's most prestigious studio musicians.
For the past five years, Irune has been the principal orchestra and band conductor at the Jesús Guridi Conservatory of Music, where she also teaches chamber music.
